North Bridge

Project

North Bridge will be a pedestrian overpass spanning Routes 9/10/12 one block south of West Street. It connects the City owned Downtown Cheshire Trail to the State owned Cheshire Trail North.

North Bridge provides a safe above grade facility for crossing Routes 9/10/12 at this important trail connection.

Currently, pedestrians, bicyclists and other trail users dart out across Routs 9/10/12 over two lanes of high speed traffic and entry/exist ramps looking for gaps in the traffic. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe.

To completely eliminate this problem and to maximize use of the existing rail trail infrastructure, an ADA-complaint bridge spanning the highway needs to be constructed at this location.

North Bridge also safely connects destinations inside the bypass, such as Keene State College, Colony Mill Marketplace, the new Monadnock Marketplace and downtown Keene with the growing residential areas of West Keene and the regional trail system.

North Bridge will provide a safe access to destinations in West Keene such as the Keene High School, Wheelock Park, and the soon to be constructed YMCA.

PFK actively supports the North Bridge project that will create a magnificent pedestrian overpass across Routes 9/10/12 just south of West Street

PFK will contribute at least $50,000 to the North Bridge project.
